Our Department provides professional health education and research training in a rural context. Based at Shepparton in the Goulburn Valley, we have major nodes at Ballarat and Wangaratta and associations with nearly 40 smaller towns in rural Victoria. We offer an exciting range of multidisciplinary opportunities for undergraduate, postgraduate students and practicing health professionals. We aim to make our students' time at the Department rich in academic, social and cultural experiences, providing a genuine sense of the many opportunities in rural Victoria for community involvement and service. Our triumph depends on promote from our local community, especially the health protection sector. Partnerships with many agencies in the Shepparton, Ballarat and Wangaratta regions underpin our teaching and research. The Melbourne Medical School is segment of the Faculty of Medicine Dentistry and Health Sciences.It is the oldest medical school in Australia and internationally renowned for global leadership in teaching and training, health research, policy and practice. The School encompasses all major fields of medicine and rural health. Explore, inquire and enjoy the social history of medicine and its role in society through a different exhibition program. Our honorary staff play a critical role in the life of the Melbourne Medical School (HMS) and substantially assist us in occupied with the communities we serve to improve health and advance health care through our teaching, learning, research, clinical care and advocacy. Succeeding his undergraduate medical training at the University of Melbourne, he undertook his internship and residency at the Austin and Repatriation General Hospitals completing his advanced training in rheumatology and attaining his FRACP in 1992. In 2008, Prof McCall was awarded a Master of Education for his research in understanding the methods old by clinician educators to improve diagnostic reasoning skills in medical students. His current research interests continue to reside in the area of teaching and assessment of diagnostic reasoning skills in medical students. Prof McCall continues to practice as a visiting rheumatologist at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, and serves on several committees guiding the development of the medical workforce, and health of the community. The HMS intends that our relationship with our honorary staff is one of mutual profit in which the HMS benefits from the knowledge, skills and persuade of the honorary staff member while the honorary staff member benefits from the opportunities, resources and reputation of the HMS and University of Melbourne. Honorary appointments are made in recognition of significant, sustained contributions to the HMS in the areas of learning and teaching research and research training engagement and professional practice and leadership. Understanding models for delivering sexual health services in rural Victoria. There is trivial research about what outcomes are produced from different rural sexual health service delivery models, and what is significant about the varying conditions in which the models operate. This may be due to a range of barriers including geographical location, limited finest of health concern professionals, concerns about confidentiality and stigma, acceptability of the existing service, and cost. However, there is little published research to date that explores the relationship between these models and outcomes for service users in rural areas. This research project seeks to grasp and compare how different rural sexual health service models operate in varying contexts to yield outcomes for service users. The outcomes from this project will be of interest to policy makers, community health and other organizations that have a stake in the delivery of rural sexual health services. It is therefore essential that rural health services be capable in providing culturally safe and effective protection to improve health outcomes for these groups. This is particularly relevant in rural areas where health services are fewer and typically more generalist than in metropolitan areas. The tool is designed to assist mainstream health services to provide culturally responsive health concern to Aboriginal Victorians. The project seeks to understand the barriers to improving cultural competency in mainstream health services to enhance the delivery of culturally good health care for Aboriginal people in rural Victoria. This project offers insight into the practicalities involved in engaging generalist rural health services to move towards cultural responsiveness within their organizations for Aboriginal Australians. The project will yield a report and peer review publications. The mission of The University of Melbourne Department of Rural Health, incorporating the University Department of Rural Health and Rural Clinical School, is to improve the health and well being of rural and indigenous communities by providing leadership and excellence in collaborative, multidisciplinary and culturally sensitive research and education. Health services research: development and evaluation of health services and other health programs for the earnings of communities. Workforce: assistance in recruiting, promoting, supporting and developing the local health workforce.
